A letter and a statement regarding the Israeli occupation release of the perpetrator of the crime of burning Dawabshah family

Association of Human Rights Institutions—Palestine

Dear Sir or Madam

The Israeli Occupation Central Court in the occupied city of Lod issued a shocking decision of releasing one of the accused of the crime of burning and killing the Dawabshah family this morning.

The beginning of the case was On July 31, 2015, when four settlers brutally set fire using Molotov cocktails at home of the family of Mr. Saad Dawabsha in the village of Duma in the West Bank, governorate of Nablus. That resulted of the death of the infant Ali Dawabsha (18 months) and the serious injury of his brother Ahmed (4 years). The parents also were injured by burns of the third degree before declaring their death later.

Dear Sir or Madam

Racism appeared in the slogans written by those accused of this brutal crime on the walls of the house, such as (Reviving revenge) and (Revenge of Christ) before fleeing. The occupation Completed this racism by its shocking decision this morning which confirms the 8 complicity of the occupation and its’ failure to achieve justice. It also proves that the Israeli occupation judiciary legitimizes settlers’ crimes and provides immunity to the perpetrators, which is an extension of a series of previous judicial decisions that provided suspect immunity to criminals. The Israeli occupation authorities have already acquitted the accused of murdering of the US peace activist Rachel Corrie, who was killed by military bulldozers while trying to prevent the razing of Palestinian houses in Al-Salam neighborhood in Rafah on

March 3, 2003.

The decision of the Israeli occupation today to release the accused of burning and killing 3 Palestinians, including a child, confirms the complicity of the occupation and its’ failure to achieve justice. It also proves that the Israeli occupation judiciary legitimizes settlers’ crimes and provides immunity to the perpetrators, which is an extension of a series of previous judicial decisions that provided suspect immunity to criminals.

In the light of this, Association of human Rights Institutions affirms the responsibility of the Israeli Occupation Forces to provide protection to civilians in the Occupied Territories. It also calls you to condemn the decision of the Israeli Occupation Court and to compel the occupying forces to respect the rules of the International Humanitarian Law.
