After nine months in jail, IOA releases Sheikh Omar Barghouthi

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Wednesday night released Sheikh Omar al-Barghouthi, a senior Hamas official, following nine months in administrative detention.

According to local sources, the IOA released Sheikh Barghouthi at the Jeep checkpoint in the northwest of Occupied Jerusalem after a military court decided not to extend his administrative detention.

The Israeli occupation forces kidnaped Sheikh Barghouthi along with his son Mohamed on March 31, 2020 from their home in Kobar town, north of Ramallah.

Sheikh Barghouthi is a noted national figure who had spent a total of 30 years in different Israeli jails. He is the brother of prisoner Nael al-Barghouthi and the father of a martyr and a prisoner, and his family has always been exposed to Israeli persecution.
