A Palestinian child died on Friday afternoon of a serious injury he sustained while taking part in the Great March of Return protests in Gaza months ago.

Gaza's Ministry of Health said that Alaa al-Abbasi, 15, was shot by Israeli occupation forces in the head months ago in the Great March of Return protests east of Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.

The Great March of Return was launched on 30 March 2018 along the border between the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories occupied since 1948 to call for the return of Palestinian refugees and demand an end to the 13-year-long blockade on Gaza.
