COVID-19 in Palestine: 23 deaths, 2,032 new cases within 24 hours

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah announced on Wednesday that 23 deaths, 2,032 new cases of the coronavirus and 1,665 recoveries were recorded during the past 24 hours.

The ministry confirmed in the daily epidemiological report of coronavirus that 21 deaths and 1,518 infections were reported in the West Bank while two deaths and 514 new cases were recorded in the Gaza Strip.

It added that the recovery rate of the coronavirus reached 89.1 percent while the rate of active infections reached 9.8 percent and the death rate was 1.1% of all infections.

The ministry pointed out that there are 206 critically ill patients who have been admitted to intensive care units including 58 who have been placed on ventilators.

For his part, Kamal Al-Shakhra, the spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health, said that the epidemiological situation is still dangerous and the occupancy rate in hospitals is high and some of them have reached 100%.

Shakhra indicated that the percentage of positive coronavirus examinations ranged between 16-22 percent while in previous weeks it was between 20-30 per cent.

Regarding the vaccination campaign, he explained that there is a remarkable turnout of citizens to receive the corona vaccine.
