Cumulative confirmed cases continues to surge in Palestine

The cumulative confirmed Covid-19 cases continue to surge in Palestine with 2,307 new cases and 23 deaths were announced today.

Health Minister Mai al-Kaileh announced that 2,307 Palestinians tested positive for the novel coronavirus and 23 others died of it in the occupied territories.

Among the new 2,307 confirmed cases, 1,598 were recorded in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and 709 others were recorded in the besieged Gaza Strip.

As for the West Bank cases, they were distributed as following: 256 cases in Hebron governorate, 362 in Jenin, 205 in Nablus, 98 in Tulkarm, 300 in Ramallah and al-Bireh, 60 in Salfit, 55 in Qalqilia, 28 in Tubas, 118 in Bethlehem, 96 in Jerusalem suburbs besides to 20 in Jericho & the Jordan Valley.

Al-Kaileh identified the new 23 deaths as 15 from the West Bank and eight others from the Gaza Strip.

The West Bank deaths were distributed as following: three deaths in Hebron governorate, five in Ramallah & al-Bireh, three in Bethlehem, another in Jenin, another in Salfit, another in Qalqilia and another in Nablus.  

She added that 1,910 Covid-19 patients recovered. The recovery cases were identified as 1,215 cases from the West Bank and 695 from the Gaza Strip.

The West Bank recovery cases were distributed as follows: 241 recovery cases in Hebron governorate, 142 in Jenin, 256 in Nablus, 89 in Tulkarm, 106 in Bethlehem, 103 in Salfit, 35 in Tubas, 189 in Ramallah & al-Bireh, 16 in Jericho & the Jordan Valley besides to 38 in Qalqilia.   

Al-Kaileh pointed that 135 Covid-19 patients are still being hospitalized in intensive care units, including 39 who are connected to respirators.

According to the latest coronavirus data, the confirmed cases in the occupied territories (West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and Gaza) reached 128,512.

Out of the 128,512 cases, 84,198 are recorded in the West Bank, 29,211 in the Gaza Strip and 15,103 in East Jerusalem.

Recoveries have totaled 102,573, and the death toll reached 1,130, leaving a total of 24,809 active cases.

Recovery cases account for 79.8 percent of the total cases, active cases for 19.3 percent and deaths for 0.9 percent since the pandemic outbreak in early March.
