Hamas: 15 May is a decisive day in Palestinian history
Head of Hamas Political Bureau in Gaza Yahya Al-Sinwar said yesterday that 15 May will be a decisive day in Palestinian history, Safa News Agency reported.
During a meeting with young people in Gaza Al-Sinwar said: “Those who think that it is a revolution of starving or besieged people are delusional. Today, youths have stepped up to restore balance to the Palestinian cause and correct its track.”
Al-Sinwar stressed that the Great March of Return “returned life to the hearts of children, women and men, as well as to the hearts of all the free people in the entire world,” noting that the march “embarrassed” the Israeli occupation as it returned the Palestinian issue to the table again.
“Palestinian factions bet on the Palestinian youths, who returned the Palestinian cause to a top international issue,” he said, stressing that the world “is unable to oblige us to accept what we do not like or what does not meet with our national goals and principles”.
Al-Sinwar said that mediators contacted Hamas to stop the protests, but they have refused. “A tiger has been living under siege for 11 years,” we told them; “the tiger has been unleased to bring those who besieged it down”.
He added: “We told the mediators that Hamas and the other factions will not detach themselves from the Palestinian people… we will not fail them even if we lose millions of martyrs. We are ready to defend our right to return, our holy city of Jerusalem, our right to live in dignity, and our right to break the siege.”
The demonstrations of the Great March of Return and Breaking the Siege started on 30 March 2018. Since then Israeli forced have killed 53 demonstrators and wounded more than 8,500 others.
