Hamas: UN position on Israel’s attacks on Gaza “gross bias”
The Hamas Movement said that the recent remarks by a spokesperson for the UN secretary-general about Israel’s military attacks on the Gaza Strip reflected a gross bias in favor of the Israeli position and aggression
In a press release on Monday, Hamas expressed its shock and dismay at the UN statement, saying it ignored the crimes that had been committed by Israel in Gaza last Friday, which led up to the recent flare-up.
Hamas stressed that the Palestinian resistance acted in self-defense when it responded to Israel’s crimes.
It said that the UN statement flouted the death of 28 Palestinians, mostly civilians, the injury of over 200 others and the destruction of about 500 homes and civilian facilities during Israel’s military escalation against Gaza.
Hamas also accused the UN of closing its eyes to Israel’s reluctance over the past months to honor understandings mediated by Egypt, Qatar and UN officials over Gaza.
The Movement underlined that the UN’s biased language towards the Israeli occupation and its aggression would never serve the efforts to end the war and maintain stability.
