The Hamas Movement on Tuesday held the Israeli occupation state fully responsible for any consequences resulting from its attacks on civilians homes in the Gaza Strip, affirming that it activated its shelling for shelling tactic.

“The valiant Palestinian resistance spearheaded by al-Qassam Brigades has shouldered the responsibility for protecting the Palestinian people and responding strongly and directly to the occupation’s violations and crimes against our people in Jerusalem and worshipers at the holy Aqsa Mosque as well as to its targeting of civilians, children and resistance sites in Gaza,” spokesman for Hamas Fawzi Barhoum said in a press release on Tuesday.

“We reaffirm that there would be no retreat from the ‘shelling for shelling equation’ which the resistance has imposed forcibly on the Israeli enemy,” spokesman Barhoum added.

“The occupation’s intentional bombing of civilian homes and its killing of innocent families, children and women reveals the enormity of its crimes and brutality,” he said.

In a related context, head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya described Jerusalem as “a new political and popular balance of power,” expressing his belief that the Palestinian people’s will would triumph.

“The equation of linking Gaza with Jerusalem is solid and will not change. When Jerusalem called for help, Gaza answered its call,” Haneyya said.  

“We have decided to continue unless the occupation stops all its acts of aggression and terror in Jerusalem and at the holy Aqsa Mosque,” the Hamas political leader affirmed.
