Hamas chief: Emirati-Israeli normalisation agreement contradicts history, overrides Arab consensus

The Emirati-Israeli normalisation agreement is contradicts history and overrides Arab consensus against normalising ties with the Israeli occupation, head of Hamas political bureau Ismail Haniyeh said.

In an interview with TRT channel, the Hamas chief stated that normalisation is a ‘stab in the back of the Palestinian people’, adding that there are three illusions pushing normalisers to build up ties with the Israeli occupation: the beliefthat the Arab peoples experience a period of defeat, fake legitimacy from the USA by building up ties with the Israeli occupation, the claim that the Israeli occupation may adhere to peace with the countries in the region.

“We call upon all states seeking normalisation of ties with the Israeli occupation to hold on,” Haniyeh added.

The top Hamas official also stated that reconciliation is extremely important, labeling it as a ‘necessity and an obligation’.

Concerning the Egyptian efforts to renew ceasefire understandings, Haniyeh mentioned that the movement is waiting for the Israeli reply to the demands already raised to the Egyptian delegation.
