Hamas movement has hailed the resolution reached by the Belgian federal parliament that urges the government to prepare a list of possible sanctions to be imposed on the Israeli occupation in case it annexes parts from the occupied West Bank.

In a statement by Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem, the movement called on Belgium’s government to implement this resolution in response to the Israeli annexation plans.

He also urged parliaments and legislative councils across the world to take similar positions and impose sanctions on the Israeli occupation to block the Israeli occupation’s push to annex occupied Palestinian territories, which is a flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions.

The widespread rejection of the Israeli annexation plans confirmed that the Israeli occupation is isolated and the intended annexation has no legal grounds, Qasem added.
