Israel arrests Al-Aqsa Mosque guard

Israeli occupation forces this morning arrested a guard at Al-Aqsa Mosque and summoned others in for questioning.

The guard was identified as Arafat Najeeb, arrested on his way to the mosque via the Hitta Gate.

At the same time, Israeli intelligence issued interrogation writs against four other members of Al-Aqsa’s supervision staff.

Hamza Al-Nabali, Luay Abu Al-Saad, Khalil Al-Tarhouni and Fadi Aliyan were all summoned for questioning at the Qishleh detention centre, in occupied Jerusalem’s Old City.

Thirty-one-year-old Aliyan, from Al-Issawiya in Jerusalem, has previously been arrested by Israeli occupation forces. On 28 June 2016 he was held on charges of “assaulting a policeman” when Israeli settlers stormed the mosque and was later sentenced to 11 months in jail with a bail of 1,500 shekels ($400). His sentenced was issued one day after his arrest.
