Israel calls to cut Palestinian prisoner treatment costs from PA taxes
An Israel parliamentarian committee is discussing a bill which would force the Palestinian Authority (PA) to pay the expenses of treating Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails, Quds Pressreported yesterday
Reporting the Israel’s Channel 7, Quds Press said that the Welfare Committee in the Israeli Knesset prepared the bill which stipulates that the PA must pay for the treatment of Palestinian prisoners who are wounded during their detention.
The bill demands that the Israeli occupation government deducts the cost of the medical care from the PA taxes collected by the Israeli customs if the PA refused to foot the bill.
According to the Israeli report, prison services spend approximately 25 million ($6.8 million) for the continuous medical treatment of prisoners wounded during their detention.
Should the committee approve the bill it will passed to the Knesset for approval.
