Israel hinders Palestinian activities during Ramadan

Israel Police has been putting obstacles in front of institutions which donate free break fast meals for Muslim worshippers in Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, local sources said.

The coordinator of donations in Al-Aqsa Mosque, Bassam Abu Libdeh, said the Israeli forces have erected three checkpoints along the route food trucks take to get to the mosque, delaying their entry and inspecting them.

Ghazi Issa, director of the Al-Aqsa Association, one of the institutions that carry out several projects in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque said his association is carrying out a series of projects during the month of Ramadan including providing free food for Muslims and cleaning the mosque’s courtyards.

Abu Libdeh said the number of meals varies according to the general situation.

The number of meals offered during the first ten days of Ramadan reaches between 1,500-2,000 meals, however during the last ten days, the number could reach 3,000-4,000 meals which could reach up to 15,000 during the last Friday.
