Israel injures 55 journalists covering Gaza protests

“At least 55 journalists covering ongoing protests on the Gaza Strip have been wounded by Israeli soldiers,” authorities in the Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip said yesterday reported Anadolu Agency.

“The number of Israeli violations against journalists in the Palestinian lands, 55 of which took place in Gaza, has reached a total of 125,” said a press statement.

 

“Nine of the journalists were hit by live ammunition, eight with explosive bullet shrapnel, 17 with gas bombs directly fired towards them, while 21 others barely escaped suffocating and fainted.”

 

The nine injured with live ammunition were hit in the abdomen and back, as well as in the thigh, leg, arm and foot.

 

Meanwhile, in the occupied West Bank, “Israeli troops damaged four live broadcast vehicles by firing gas bombs and seven journalists were detained”, with Israeli soldiers “accused of shooting and battering journalists”.
