Israel settlers slash tyres, spray racist graffiti in Nablus-area village
Israeli settlers damaged several Palestinian vehicles and vandalised a structure in a Nablus-area village in the northern occupied West Bank at dawn today.
Ghassan Daghlas, an official who monitors settlement activity in the northern West Bank, told Ma’an that Israeli settlers coming from the illegal Yitzhar settlement punctures the tyres of several vehicles in northern Urif village in southern Nablus.
Daghlas identified two owners of vehicles whose tyres were slashed as Ghaleb Radwan Ahmad Amer, 59, and his son Mahmoud, 25, whose house is only one kilometre from the illegal Yitzhar settlement.
Israeli settlers also sprayed racist anti-Arab graffiti on the walls of a structure belonging to another Palestinian in the village.
Many Palestinian activists and rights groups have accused Israel of fostering a “culture of impunity” for Israelis committing violent crimes against Palestinians.
In March 2017, Israeli NGO Yesh Din revealed that occupation authorities served indictments in only 8.2 per cent of cases of Israeli settlers committing crimes against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank in the past three years.
Between 500,000 and 600,000 Israelis live in Jewish-only settlements across occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank in violation of international law, with recent announcements of settlement expansion provoking condemnation from the international community.
