Israel settlers storm Al-Aqsa on first day of Ramadan
A group of extreme Israeli settlers yesterday stormed the courtyards of the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
The General Director of the Jerusalem Endowment and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, told Petra news agency that the extremist settlers were ignoring the fact that it was the first day of the holy month of Ramadan and broke into Al-Aqsa’s courtyards under the protection of occupation forces.
Al-Khatib added that worshippers, scholars and Al-Aqsa guards confronted the settlers.
There have been calls for settlers to storm Al-Aqsa more regularly. A recent court ruling settlers could chant “the People of Israel will live” in the mosque’s grounds as this is a patriotic not religious declaration.
