Israeli gunboats attack Palestinian fishermen in Gaza
The Israeli occupation navy on Friday morning opened fire at Palestinian fishing boats sailing off Gaza shore.
The Palestinian Fishermen Committee said in a brief statement that Israeli gunboats heavily opened fire at Palestinian fishermen off the shore of Beit Lahia town in the northern Gaza Strip with no injuries reported.
It added that the fishermen were sailing within the fishing zone permitted by Israel.
According to the Oslo Accords signed by Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization on 13 September 1993, the Palestinian fishermen in the Gaza Strip are allowed to sail within an area of 20 nautical miles. Israel later reduced the area to 6 nautical miles.
