Israeli occupation killed six Palestinians, detained 22 in Gaza in 2020
Six Palestinians have been killed and 22 others arrested by Israeli occupation forces since the start of this year, a human rights group has found.
In a report on Israeli violations against the Gaza Strip, the NGO group explained that the six Palestinians killed by the Israeli occupation posed no threat to the Israeli occupation soldiers.
Over the past six months, Israeli occupation troops wounded 38 Palestinians and detained 22 others.
The majority of shootings and arrests took place when Israeli occupation forces opened fire at Palestinian fishermen off Gaza’s coast and participants in the Great Return March protests east of the Gaza Strip.
Launched in March 2018, the Great Return March was attended by hundreds of Palestinians demanding an end to the 14-year Israeli siege on the impoverished Gaza Strip.
The Gaza-based organisation said that the Israeli occupation has committed “systematic and grave” violations of international law against the Palestinians in the coastal enclave and their properties.
The Israeli occupation army has made ground incursions in the eastern and northern Gaza Strip and attacked Palestinian fishermen working off the coast of the besieged strip, the non-profit group pointed out.
The human rights organisation called for lifting the “illegal and immoral” Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip, reiterating the necessity to provide protection for Palestinian citizens amid the mounting Israeli violations.
