PA: Israel is taking vengeance on Palestine for rejecting ‘Deal of the Century’

Yesterday the Palestinian Authority (PA)’s Foreign Ministry warned against Israel’s possible military escalation against the Palestinian people across the occupied territories, following their rejection of the recently-announced US peace plan in the Middle East.

“We [PA] were informed that the occupation government has taken a decision to escalate its aggression against the Palestinian people and its leadership, to punish them for rejecting the so-called ‘Deal of the Century’,” the ministry announced in a statement.

The Israeli forces, the ministry added, have recently increased aggression by storming numerous Palestinian municipalities and provoking Palestinians through violence. The Israeli storms have led to the deaths of 17-year-old Mohammad Al-Haddad from Hebron, and 19-year-old Yazan Munther Abu Tabikh from Jenin, and has left dozens injured.

“Palestinians always pay the blood of their children as the price for any electoral competition that takes place among political parties in Israel,” the ministry noted, holding the Israeli government directly responsible for its repression against the Palestinian people, their land and properties.

The ministry called on the United Nations (UN) Security Council to: “Take the necessary practical steps to curb the Israeli aggression against Palestinians and stop it immediately.”

The US plan was announced last week by US President Donald Trump at a press conference in Washington, in the presence of Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, with no Palestinians present.

The deal was rejected by the UN, who stated that it did not conform with UN guidelines and was imposing Trump’s own vision of a two-state solution. The deal was also rejected by all Palestinian parties.
