PA prevents doctors’ strike in West Bank

The Supreme Court of the Palestinian Authority (PA) ruled yesterday that the one-day strike planned by the Syndicate of Physicians had been suspended, a statement said

Al-Wattan Voice reported that the court said that Palestinian law, amended in 2017, prevented certain sectors of public servants from carrying out strikes, including those working in the healthcare sector.

Meanwhile, the council of the Syndicate of Physicians insisted on its demands related to the medical safety and protection law, unification of work for all physicians and its rejection of the new Social Welfare Law.

According to the statement, the syndicate said medical safety and protection laws are lacking and do not  cover important issues including insurance for medical mistakes.

The syndicate stressed that it would carry out strike on a daily basis between 8-10am at all medical centres and hospitals except emergency units, maternity wards and cancer departments.
