Palestinian sports ministry thanks Malaysia for Israel athlete ban

A delegation from the Palestinian Sports Ministry in Gaza yesterday visited the representative of Malaysia, Mohamed Nader Qamar Al-Zaman, thanking him for his country’s ban on Israeli athletes entering Malaysia

The delegation consisted of the Deputy Minister Ahmed Muheisin and a number of general directors at the sports ministry, Shehab reported.

Muheisin described the Malaysian stance as “honourable,” noting that Malaysia had supported Palestine in similar ways in the past. He also thanked the Malaysian people and the country’s Prime Minister, Mahatir Mohammed, as well as Sayid Sadiq – the Malaysian Minister of Sports and Youth – for their decision.

The Palestinian official called for the international community to follow Malaysia’s lead in order to isolate the Israeli occupation.

Meanwhile, Qamar Al-Zaman thanked Muheisin and his ministry for their visit, hailing their role in helping Palestinian youth.
