A Palestinian young man was shot dead on Thursday by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank after an alleged car-ramming incident.

The Palestinian was shot at the scene near the illegal settlement of Negohot, southeast of al-Khalil.

Israeli ambulance crews said that a soldier in his early 20s was rushed to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba in moderate to serious condition after he was hit by a Palestinian-owned car.

An Israel army spokesperson claimed the slain young man drove quickly toward soldiers next to a military post, hitting one of them and prompting another soldier to open fire at him.
