Press release on US failure to pass resolution condemning Palestinian resistance at UNGA
Over the few past days, Hamas has followed up the US endeavours led by the Trump administration’s ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley to pass a draft resolution condemning the Palestinian resistance.
On the heels of the US failure to pass the resolution, Hamas states the following:
First: Hamas extends its thanks and gratitude to all states that foiled the US efforts and stood with the resistance of the Palestinian people by voting in favour of their right to resist the Israeli occupation.
Moreover, the movement calls on all states that supported the Israeli occupation and the Trump’s administration to reconsider their stance and rectify their historic and great fault against the Palestinian people.
Second: Hamas considers the US failure to pass the resolution that condemns the Palestinian resistance as a triumph for the Palestinian people, for the Arab and Islamic nations, and for all free people of the world. It is a serious failure for the ‘bullying policy’ of the Trump administration adopted in the region.
Third: The practices of the US administration, including blackmailing the UN member states, are desperate attempts to manipulate reality, turn the victim into a villain, and impose a new international legitimacy that is based on hegemony, chaos, and law of jungle.
Fourth: Hamas stresses that resisting the Israeli occupation by all means possible is a legitimate right for the Palestinian people guaranteed by all international laws and legislations. The US attempts to delegitimize the Palestinian resistance would never alter reality or dissuade our people from demanding and defending all their rights, above all the right to resist the Israeli occupation.
Fifth: Hamas confirms that the real terrorism that should be condemned by all states and parties is the Zionist occupation that forcibly displaces the Palestinian people, perpetrates massacres against them, steals their properties, judases Jerusalem, establishes new illegal settlements, and deprives the refugees of their right to return back to their hometowns.
