Prisoner Abu Atwan continues his hunger strike for 22nd day

Prisoner Al-Ghadanfar Abu Atwan, 28, from Dura, south of Hebron, in the southern West Bank, is continuing his open hunger strike, refusing his administrative detention, for the 22nd consecutive day in the Israeli prisons.

The prisoner club stated that the Israeli prison administration transferred the prisoner Abu Atwan to the cells of Ohlikdar prison recently in an attempt to put pressure on him, which is the first of the disciplinary measures it imposes on the prisoner after announcing the strike.

The prisoner Abu Atwan has been detained since October 2020, and Israel issued two administrative detention orders against him for 6 months each, and he is an ex-prisoner who was arrested several times since 2013.

The prisoner previously went on hunger strike in 2019 to reject his administrative detention.

The strike of the prisoner Abu Atwan comes in light of the dangerous escalation that the Israeli authorities are pursuing concerning the policy of administrative detention, especially with the escalation of the confrontation recently.

The Israeli authorities issued 155 administrative detention orders between renewal orders and new orders against prisoners from May 1 to May 20, so the number of administrative prisoners increased to about 500.

Also, prisoner Khaled Makhamreh, 26, from Yatta in Hebron continues his hunger strike for the 12th day in a row, refusing to continue his isolation in the cells of Hadarim prison, and the prison administration's continued imposition of a set of abusive measures against him, including denying him a cantina, and his frequent isolation in the cells.

The captive Mkhamerah is sentenced to four life imprisonment and 60 years.
