The International Solidarity with Prisoners "TADAMON" confirms that the confrontations in the Israeli prisons yesterday in Negev, and this morning in Ishel is but a result of the punitive measures and restrictions imposed by the IPS administration against the prisoners, violating all their human rights in prison

TADAMON deplores the brutal assault of the jailors against the prisoners, not to mention, firing the prisoners with live bullets in Ishel and Negev Desert prisons, and injuring dozens as a result of the severe beating by the repression units, which called for having them transfered to the Israeli Hospital, Soroka. That is, in addition to the provocative searches that are being done during the past two days. That, and forbidding them from performing the Salat Al Joumaa in Ramon prison. That is besides the installation of the electronic jammers. Noting that all said measures are in clear contravention of Articles 3, 34 and 38 of the Third Geneva Convention of 1949 and Article 93 of the Fourth Geneva Convention of the same year, is a clear message that states that the Occupation is deliberate cusing tension inside prisons provocating the prisoners' protest and discontent.

 

Said measures also confirms that the Occupations' practices did not stop at that, but deliberately imposed arbitrary movements against some prisoners, the emptying of sections, and the isolation of others, following the vicious attack by the Occupation's prisons administration. Noting that the latest of these punitive measures is the prohibition of the family visits until further notice, violating Article 116 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, Which means the Occupation's insistance to abuse and target the prisoners, intentionally ignoring all international laws and norms. Occupation's authorities bear the full resposiblity for the lives and the safety of the unarmed prisoners, especially after deliberately harming and directly injuring during incursions and firing live ammunition.

 

TADAMON calls for supporting the prisoners in their rightful battle against the jailors, especially as they are taking escalating steps, as they announced a strike to preserve their dignity and their stolen rights, and the Foundation confirms that it connected with the International Committee of the Red Cross putting them in the picture of the latest developments, and called for urgent intervention by sending an emergency committee to stand at the violations of the Occupation, to inspect the prisoners' conditions, especially those whom are injured.

 

On the mass level, TADAMON calls for all Palestinian parties to circumvent the prisoners as a national issue, which requires uniting and intensifying efforts away from any political disputes, going on peaceful demonstrations to pressure the Occupation and expose its crimes to the world.
