West Bank worker injured by Israeli gunfire in northern Tulkarem
A Palestinian workman suffered a bullet injury on Wednesday morning when Israeli soldiers opened fire at him during his presence at the military gate of the separation fence, which is located to the west of Baqat ash-Sharqiya town in northern Tulkarem.
The Red Crescent said that its ambulance crews provided medical assistance for a young man identified as Hazem Lahlouh from Arraba town in Jenin before transferring him to hospital.
It noted that the young man suffered a bullet injury in the leg.
Five West Bank workers had been injured in similar shooting attacks yesterday during their attempt to reach workplaces inside Israel (the 1984 occupied lands).
The harsh economic conditions of many Palestinian families in the West Bank drive their sons and breadwinners to work in Israeli areas.
Only limited numbers of West Bank citizens manage to get work permits from the Israeli occupation authority — a situation that prompts hundreds of thousands of other workers to infiltrate into Israeli areas through openings in the fence.
